    @rescul2418 actually, being that you’re from Canada, you must have heard about things like FIRE BANS…where you can’t have an open fire. And most certainly can’t be having a wood fueled fire (sparks and flying embers). Camping isn’t defined by HOW you cook but how you live while doing it. Not to mention, that actually using a wood fire to cook with, is inefficient and environmentally irresponsible. Now I’m no tree hugger, I love wood fires…but there are BETTER ways to camp, then burning wood

    What if you’re treking through an area that isn’t wooded? How would you suggest cooking food in that environment if not with a stove?

    What if you were in a tropical region such as a rainforest, and dry wood suitable for fuel was just not available?

    weve never had a fire ban. if i do have a fire i have it near a steam on a sandy bank, because i live in scotland and the ground is often too peaty. thanks for the advice if there is ever a ban. oh and always seek the landowners permission.

    I have a esbit pocket stove. It takes small tablets and is very small and light weight.
