What brand of camping tent overall is the best in terms of durability, quality and keeping out rain?

(Regardless of price, looking for a 6 to 7 person tent, and definitely want a rain proof tent)

Springbars are by the best that I have ever owned. They are very durable and have never leaked or torn. They have all different sizes and shapes. Just a very good tent.

We have a Cabela’s tent that is 10′x16′ and sleeps 8. It’s a great tent. It’s also tall enough that you can walk around in it. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0006290510012a&navCount=1&podId=0006290&parentId=cat20105&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20075-cat20105&catalogCode=IH&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20105&hasJS=true
    is the link to it.

Eureka tents are very good, probably one of the best brands. Cabela’s also has some good quality tents.

I can appreciate brands like Eureka, Cabela’s, Coleman, etc., but if you’re not concerned about price, you should be aware that you can do better. Before you buy check out REI.com. REI itself makes high-end tents, and the brands they carry do likewise. Check out the link below, there’s not a bad choice in the lot. I’m not suggesting you buy from REI, you can typically find the tents for cheaper elsewhere, but they do have an incredible return policy. Good luck.

We camp a lot and have had only Coleman tents and they have been great in some really heavy rainstorms. Right now we have a Coleman Weathermaster that sleeps 8 and has 3 rooms (or it can be just one big room). We have had this for several years and never had a leak. Of course, as with all tents, you do need to set it up and put seam sealer on all the inside and outside seams, but you should do that with any tent you buy.

Tom is correct, regardless of what brand use Seam Sealer
on all floor seams and any not covered by the fly.And then I do the seams on the fly.
I also use silicone spray after I let the seam sealer dry 24 hrs.
I also carry a plastic tarp that is big enough to cover the entire tent ,when it looks like extended periods of rain.

I’ve spent weeks in the Adirondacks, in the rain. And being wet takes all the fun out of it in a hurry.

I’ve always had Eureka tents. But that’s just personal preference.

canvas tent with a rainfly. It also stays cooler in the summer, and warmer in the winter.

I’ve had this tent in tornado winds, and she stood strong. It did completely shred the porch rainfly though.\

That tent has been "in service" since 1974. It’s only had to have the zippers replaced once, as well as the 2X4s.

It sleeps 8 hunters with cots, and all gear w/ a kitchen area, or in the case shown 20 festival goers w/ 8 air matresses, and 4 cots.

Cabelas sells them now that don’t have any "center posts" so that it is more open.

go canvas, add an extra heavy duty rainfly, and don’t look back.

Go buy a pop-up camper they will keep the little lady happy. but if your set on doing it the hard way. buy any thing and put it in a large screen room who cares if it leaks it wont get wet. then you can use the screen room for day outings. luck
