made from 1.9 ounce silnylon, took about 20 minutes to sew the side seams, and 5 to tie the ends off……light, comfy, and total involved cost……………4.00 for the fabric…LOL I LOVE THIS STUFF

lol….love the look on your face as you listen for that all to familiar sound of snapping rope lol…..One of my hiking buddies works in construction and they run some netting around around scaffolding to catch anyone that falls off, and he got his hands on some of it and I made a hammy from mine. It works great but as it’s bright green I wont be taking to the forest again, but it’s nice the garden. Might have some video of it, will have to look. That one looks nice and lightweight 5*

@MrCableguyken have you ever used a double needle on your machine it is as easy as a regular needle and makes a double stictch nice and easy. use upholstery thread and get super strong sticthes.

@FixedByDoc it iwll be on a table with the discount stuff…ask them if they have a bargain bin for fabric, and look in it…they wont know what it is, but they may have it…I have to check about once a week to get it.

@FixedByDoc Yeah, I just dont trust my stiches that much…lol I think if I knot the fabric down tight, and then do a larks head knot around that, it will hold…I just want to get some thinner stronger cordage for the loops, and some webbing for the tree straps..the webbing I can get local and cheap, the cordage is the hard part.

my parachute style hammock the ENO double nest has the ends sewn to create a tunnel to slide the rope through then they made a loop on the end of the rope on one side a slide the other end through the loop and pulled tight till the material bunch up. like a draw cord on a sack.

i have gone to wallmart and to a fabric store and they had no clue what silnylon was lol. they kept taking me to the ribbon section even after i told them it was fabric rpistop silicone coated nylon that comes on a bolt just like the other material. then they took me to the silk. go figure.

@bushcraftbartons Thank you Mike…it feels good to have a good piece of kit, and not have to spend a fortune. BTW, I am going to be making some of your fire picks, but I am going to call them fire pucs, cause I am going to make them about an inch tall…that should be just enough to boil water over, and leave no waste, or get out of control.

well, that’s the problem, no walmart lol, very secluded, closest walmart is like 2-2 1/2 hours drive away, that tells you how secluded you are, when you don’t have a walmart.

@flamedrag18 my local wal-mart sells it in the bargain bin for 1.50 a yard…sometimes you get 1.1 ounce nylon, but if you look, sometimes they have the 1.9 ounce silnylon. I buy them out everytime I see it there…lol most of the time there is a good 15 yards on each bolt, so I just buy the bolts. I also found some 4 foot wide silnylon that I am going to make a tarp for this hammock from.

$4.00 for that much ripstop sil-nylon, where’d you get it that cheap?
I’d love to find some, but no where’s near me actually sells it.
