I would prefer to not drill into the tree, best to put a loop of rope around it. If you go over a branch it won't slide down. If there isn't a low branch, just make the loop where you want it to be, and then use another length of rope and tie one end to the branch, and the other end to the loop to keep it from sliding down. Its also a good idea to put something between the rope and the bark to protect the tree from the rope friction. But since you're putting in one post, why not just do two?
