What is your opinion on Fleece Vests as mid layers? Of course they are not as effective as a fleece jacket as far as thermal efficiency, but still; Are vest any good?

I ONLY recommend …
I ONLY recommend wool when hiking in cool/cold conditions. You never know when you might end up in a survival situation and if that does happen, wool is your best friend. Fleece is warm but nothing compares to wool!

Did you really count it? That’s depressing. You need to calm the erm down fella. Simmer down now. Simmer. Down. Now. Why freak out? Who cares? I want to see you present without saying one “filler” word. Go ahead. Do it.

you obviously …
you obviously haven’t done any real sports or hiking then… or.. you just dont’sweat. Cotton aborbs your sweat, and if you’re in the cold while you’re swaeting – that’s no good for your thermoregulation. I like smartwool for my baselayer. Cotton has it’s place, and it isn’t on the trail.

awful choice in boots. Modern hiking shoes made by Merril with a vibram sole are better than those big, heavy, leather dinosaurs of yours

For beginners it …
For beginners it might be important to indicate the different needs for different seasons. For summer camping you wouldn’t need the down jacket and you could get by with a lighter weight fleece jacket. The parka could also be substituted for a lightweight alternative.
