We live in Colorado and are wanting to do it in the mountains in the fall, when the Aspens are changing color. We’d like an outside ceremony, I literally just love how beautiful the trees look when the sun is shining through them and I love the mountains. I’m a simple person, I want flowers in my hair, and a very simple flowing white gown. I dunno if it’d be more fun to have the reception at the wedding place and just set up white tents or something with a dance floor? Would a wedding planner be helpful? I dunno…

My fiance and I want a simple and small, wedding. I don’t have a very large extended family on either side, while he has like a 60+ family, we want a small wedding, but we don’t see anyway we can do that unless we just kept it immediate family, but then my small extended family couldn’t come and I want them there. We can’t invite some of my fiance’s extended family and not all, because they ALL live in Colorado, and we’d offend people. Also there are a lot of my father’s friends, business people that he’d want to invite… I know I should for sure have a say in that, but there are some of his friends that are called my ‘uncles’ but aren’t really and I’d like them to be able to come. Are you just gonna offend people any way you slice it?

How long will it take to plan the wedding? I know getting invites out early is important, but if we don’t want too many people coming, is it ok to get invites out like 3 months before? How much time are you supposed to give for people to respond?

Please ladies! Help me with this, I’m 20 and my fiance is 22.

So what goes into preparing your wedding and marriage?
We’ve already been dating for 2 1/2 years, and are very committed to each other. What other things are good to talk about as well?

My fiance also wants a catholic priest, since it’s a holy sacrament for him to get married. Do you know about the catholic religion? I was raised as a non-denominational christian, so I don’t really care. But can you write your own vows and still have it be a “holy sacrament?”
I know that’s important to him, but I’d like to have our own vows. I love him more than anything else. I want this to be beautiful, we’ve had a lot of family drama lately. His mom has been trying to break us apart ever since my fiance told her he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. It’s been REALLY hard, but he’s been standing up to her. His sisters hate me too, which really sux because I met him through his little sister who was my best friend since we were 10. But even she’s against me. I’ve never done anything wrong or been mean to them anyway. I asked my fiance “are you ok marrying someone that your family hates?” he told me, of course as long as it’s me.

So advice PLEASE would be really helpful!

1) Invite everybody for about 3:00. We can swim in our pool for starters. I can rent a taco bar for dinner along with some ice cream cake (her favorite). I found a company that rents out projectors and speakers, so maybe we can screen a movie outside when it gets dark? And all the girls will sleep in a tent outside.

2) Dinner at a nice restaurant and a limo ride. Kind of lame…but fun? I would do this with the tent sleepover, but I dont think people will want to get all dressed up for dinner then sleep in a tent

3) A scavenger hunt! We live in a big city (as mentioned before) so I would divide the girls randomly into two teams, send them each in their own car and give them clues all around the town. Each team will get a disposable camera. Once the teams are done with the clues, they will give me the disposable cameras and go to dinner. I’ll get them developed, and a winner will be chosen! Some clues for the hunt might be: take a picture with you rubbing a bald persons head, take a picture of you in front of *insert place here*, picture of you eating a banana. I guess spending money will be needed too….but that can all be figured out later!

So please let me know what you like best of those three, and if you have any other suggestions.
